What exactly is Pilates?
Pilates exercises develop strong abdominal, back , pelvic, gluteal and deep postural muscles to support the skeletal system. Joseph Pilates called these core muscles the “Powerhouse” of the body. The Pilates method works to strengthen the core, lengthen the spine, increase body awareness, build muscle tone and increase flexibility. Pilates is also an excellent Rehabilitation system for back, neck, shoulder, knee, hip and repetitive strain injuries. Pilates addresses the body as a whole correcting the body’s asymmetries and chronic weaknesses to prevent injury and bring the body back into balance.
At Pilates for Life you will learn exercises to improve functional movement and posture. In our small group studio classes you will perform exercises prescribed and tailored to suit your needs.
