Kirsten Joyner

B.Sc Physiotherapy (hons)

Kirsten is the owner of Pilates for life.Kirsten qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg, (South Africa) in 1995. She also completed a post graduate certificate in Sports physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) in 1997. Kirsten has worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in South Africa, England and Australia.

In treating patients with Back and neck pain as well as sports related injuries Kirsten realised the importance of core stability, flexibility , muscle balance and biomechanics to prevent the reoccurrence of injuries, therefore Pilates seemed the perfect exercise method for her patients.

Whilst working at a Sydney private practice with a Pilates studio Kirsten saw the amazing results clients obtained through Pilates. She started attending mat and reformer classes with Helen Tardent at Pilates moves in Double Bay.

Kirsten has a Diploma in contemporary Pilates through Tensegrity, and has competed other pilates courses through Michael King and the Australian fitness network in 2004 and has also attended Clinical Pilates training – a course designed for Physiotherapists with an emphasis on treating pathology with the appropriate Pilates exercises and movements specific for the individual patient.

Kirsten is a specialised Pregnancy Pilates teacher and has a special interest in women’s Health Physiotherapist. Kirsten has Tutored at Newcastle University to both Undergraduate Physio Students and Post-graduate Physiotherapists and nurses.

Since becoming a mother in 2002 Kirsten’s main interest has been in women’s health. In 2004 She developed a pregnancy exercise program called fit-4 -2 which focuses on safe exercises for pregnant and postnatal ladies. As well as teaching pregnancy pilates the Fit -4-2 program empowers pregnant women with Birth Skills and techniques to cope with pregnancy , labour and birth. Kirsten is a proud mother of two children.

Kirsten’s Physio/ Rehab Pilates classes are designed for those who need a physiotherapist’s advice and supervision in their Pilates classes.

Kirsten’s aim is to provide safe and effective Specialised Pilates classes for everybody: Pregnant and Post natal ladies (Fit 4 2), those with injuries and men and women of all fitness levels.

Kirsten is Available for appointments Tuesday – Saturday for Physiotherapy, Post natal check-ups and exercise programs, as well as Studio pilates and rehabilitation.

Gabrielle Hirst

Gabrielle is a Studio Pilates qualified mat and Reformer instructor. After working for 10 years n an office environment and attending pilates classes 6 days a week for 7 years Gabrielle decided to turn her passion for Pilates, Health and Fitness into her new career goal.

Gabrielle believes everyone can benefit from pilates and you are never too young or old to start, from pain and stress management, to general health and fitness as well as sports specific training Gabrielle loves to design programs and workouts that benefit her clients both physically and mentally.

Her thirst for knowledge and desire to help everyone feel the amazing benefits of pilates has her continually taking on new courses and workshops in the pilates field, including props for mat programming and injury recovery as well as pre/ post natal pilates.

Gabrielle teaches group mat and reformer classes and is also available for private classes at the studio via appointment.
